There’ll be plenty of fun and activities for kids who plan on attending CornFest 2000, the annual Kiwanis club fundraiser held the final weekend of September. Club member Dee Dee Terrones is lining up a number of prize-offering game booths designed to entice and entertain the crowd of young consumers expected to occupy the site’s fairgrounds.
“There will be at least 20 booths,” said Terrones. “It’s one of the biggest deals of the CornFest…right in the middle of everything.”
Attractions Terrones has secured include a duck pond, where younger children can fish out toy ducks with numbers on them and walk off with a corresponding prize; a sponge toss where you attempt to hit a clown’s face to win a prize; a jumping castle in which kids can bounce around in; face painting, and a basketball toss.
“We have lots of great toys this year,” said Terrones. According to Kiwanis officials, the games are designed so that all participants walk away a winner.
Terrones helped out with the game booths last year and took total responsibility for their implementation at this year’s event. As the wife of a Kiwanian, and a four-year, somewhat peripheral member, Terrones was enthused by the public response to past CornFest affairs and had high expectations for this year’s festivities. “I expect it to be great success,” she said. CornFest has brought together so many families and friends; and the kids love it. It’s going to be lots of fun.”
Currently, the Kiwanians are holding planning meetings in preparation for the upcoming fiesta. The group meets at 7 p.m.
“Come on out and enjoy the fun,” said Terrones. “You can eat, play games and listen to music. It’s going to be great.”
